NEW DELHI, Nov 13 (IANS) — Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka confirmed on Thursday that discussions over player retentions are underway ahead of the November 15 deadline for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season. The franchise, led by Rishabh Pant, finished seventh in the 2025 season with six wins from 14 matches.
Goenka shared an update on social media, saying, “IPL retention talks for @LucknowIPL are underway. Delighted to have @TomMoodyCricket on board, bringing immense experience and strategic insight. Great discussion with @RishabhPant17, Justin Langer, and Bharat Arun as we plan for the season ahead.” Also seen in the post were co-owner Shashwat Goenka and analyst Shrinivas Chandrashekaran.
Following a disappointing campaign, LSG made several changes to their support staff — Bharat Arun joined as bowling coach, Carl Crowe took over spin duties, and Tom Moody replaced Zaheer Khan as global director of cricket, while Justin Langer retained his position as head coach.
The team faces tricky decisions before the retention deadline, with speedster Mayank Yadav still in rehabilitation after back surgery and expected to miss the first half of IPL 2026. Meanwhile, players like David Miller, Arshin Kulkarni, and Shamar Joseph underperformed last season, and reports suggest all-rounder Shardul Thakur could be traded, though no confirmation has been made.
