The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Saturday announced significant progress in Phase II of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, with 99.93 per cent of Elector-specific Enumeration Forms (EFs) distributed across 12 States and Union Territories. The enumeration process, which commenced on November 4, is scheduled to continue until December 11.
According to the daily bulletin, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Goa have already achieved full coverage in EF distribution, while Goa and Lakshadweep have completed 100 per cent digitisation of forms. Lakshadweep has digitised all 57,813 forms, and Rajasthan has processed all 5.46 crore forms. Goa’s digitisation stands at 99.75 per cent, with over 11.8 lakh forms scanned.
Among major States, West Bengal has distributed 99.97 per cent of forms and digitised 99.43 per cent, while Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh are close behind with nearly complete distribution and more than 99.6 per cent digitisation. Tamil Nadu has recorded 99.86 per cent distribution and 98.69 per cent digitisation, whereas Gujarat and Kerala have crossed 99 per cent in distribution with digitisation progressing steadily. Uttar Pradesh, the State with the largest electorate, reported 99.93 per cent distribution but remains the lowest among major States in digitisation at 94.04 per cent.
Overall, 50.93 crore forms have been distributed and 49.69 crore digitised across the participating States and UTs. The ECI also clarified that figures for Rajasthan exclude the Anta constituency, where enumeration will begin on December 8 due to a recent by-election. Political parties have been encouraged to appoint more Booth Level Agents to support the ongoing revision, with Kerala’s deadline for form submission set for December 18.
