‘Gaon Burahs’ and ‘Gaon Buris’ Are Torchbearers of Rural Transformation: Arunachal Governor

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) on Thursday described the Gaon Burahs and Gaon Buris as the torchbearers of rural change, emphasising their vital role in driving development, promoting welfare, and strengthening village administration.

Interacting with a delegation of Gaon Burahs and Gaon Buris from Ziro in Lower Subansiri district at Raj Bhavan, the Governor urged them to take the lead in natural farming, the Smart Village concept, and cleanliness initiatives. He said true progress begins in villages with dedicated leaders who translate vision into action, aligning with the national mission of Viksit Bharat.

Lt. Gen. Parnaik (Retd.) called on the village leaders to promote cleanliness under the Swachh Bharat mission and ensure that every child completes basic education, terming education as the most powerful tool for transformation. Expressing concern over the growing drug menace, he said it destroys families and communities, urging village heads to guide the youth towards sports, skill training, and community service.

The delegation, led by political interpreter Yachang Tago, also visited model projects in horticulture, animal husbandry, and agriculture at the Raj Bhavan complex, which aim to inspire farmers and youth across the state to adopt sustainable and income-generating practices.
