WPL 2026 Player Retentions to Be Announced Thursday After India-Australia 4th T20I

New Delhi: The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 player retention list will be officially announced on Thursday, immediately after the fourth India-Australia T20I in Gold Coast, Queensland. All five franchises have submitted their final retention lists, with several big names expected to feature ahead of the mega auction scheduled in New Delhi on November 27, sources confirmed.

Each team can retain a maximum of three capped Indian players, two overseas players, and two uncapped Indian players. Teams retaining five players must include at least one uncapped Indian. The auction purse has been set at INR 15 crore, with defined retention slabs ranging from INR 3.5 crore for Player 1 to INR 50 lakh for Player 5. A Right to Match (RTM) option will also be available, capped at five per team, depending on the number of players retained.

Among probable retentions are Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, and Niki Prasad, along with overseas stars Marizanne Kapp and Annabel Sutherland. However, reports suggest that Australian skipper Meg Lanning could enter the auction. The Mumbai Indians are likely to retain Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt, while RCB may hold on to Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, and Ellyse Perry.
