Berlin, (IANS) — Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jobe Bellingham appears to have found his footing again ahead of his much-anticipated return to the United Kingdom for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League fixture against Manchester City. The 20-year-old, younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham, has shown improved morale and consistency after a challenging start following his move from Sunderland.
Club officials, including sporting director Sebastian Kehl, CEO Lars Ricken, and coach Niko Kovac, reportedly played a key role in restoring the youngster’s confidence. They held personal discussions with Bellingham to reaffirm their trust and help him step out of his brother’s shadow. Kovac said he was impressed by the midfielder’s progress, adding, “I have no concerns about him. Things are developing even faster than I expected.”
With 14 appearances and two assists this season, Bellingham has started to establish himself in Dortmund’s midfield, earning praise for his physicality and composure. The club also addressed earlier controversies, including an incident involving his father’s protest over a substitution, reinforcing team discipline.
As Dortmund prepare to face Manchester City, Kovac hinted that Bellingham could feature in the match, saying the young midfielder is now “ready to compete with our more experienced players.”
