New Delhi, Nov 4 (IANS) — BJP leader Smriti Irani on Tuesday announced that the NDA government in Bihar will enhance the financial assistance for ‘Jeevika Didis’ under the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana from Rs 10,000 to Rs 2 lakh, if re-elected. She said that over 1.3 crore women in the state have already received Rs 10,000 each to support their entrepreneurial pursuits, and the next phase will significantly strengthen women’s self-reliance.
Highlighting women-centric initiatives of the NDA, Irani said that under the Ujjwala Yojana, 1.16 crore women in Bihar have received LPG connections, while over 11 lakh Self-Help Groups (SHGs) have been formed under the Jeevika programme to promote economic independence.
She asserted that the NDA’s commitment to women’s empowerment is reflected not only in financial schemes but also in policy decisions such as the 33 per cent reservation for women in Parliament. Taking a swipe at the Opposition, Irani accused the ‘Mahathugbandhan’ of misleading women and criticized RJD’s appeal to the Election Commission to halt fund disbursal.
Irani dismissed Tejashwi Yadav’s promise of Rs 30,000 under the ‘Maai Bahin Yojana’, calling it a sign of desperation and an attempt to undervalue women’s empowerment.
