Jay Shah Hails India’s Women’s World Cup Triumph, Credits BCCI Reforms for Success

New Delhi, Nov 3 (IANS) — ICC Chairman and former BCCI secretary Jay Shah hailed the Indian women’s cricket team for their historic victory in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, describing it as a triumph of talent, determination, and the result of transformative reforms in Indian cricket.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Shah wrote: “The @BCCIWomen’s march towards its first @cricketworldcup has been nothing short of spectacular. While the grit, resolve, and skill of the Indian team have inspired the nation, key policy reforms — from increased investment and pay parity to coaching revamps and exposure through the @wplt20 — have played a crucial role. Congratulations to Harmanpreet Kaur and the entire Indian squad for this historic achievement!”

India clinched their maiden Women’s ODI World Cup title on Sunday, defeating South Africa by 52 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur and coach Amol Muzumdar, the team showed composure and consistency throughout the tournament, with standout performances from Shafali Verma, Deepti Sharma, and Amanjot Kaur.

Shah emphasized that the victory symbolizes a “defining moment” in Indian cricket, marking the evolution of the women’s game from promise to global dominance — powered by the BCCI’s structural reforms and the success of the Women’s Premier League (WPL).
