Mumbai, Nov 2 (IANS): Ola Electric, led by Bhavish Aggarwal, reported sales of 16,034 electric scooters in October, marking a steep 61 per cent decline from 41,843 units sold during the same month last year, according to data from the government’s Vahan portal. In comparison, the company sold 13,421 units in September.
The drop in sales coincides with reports that Ola Electric’s operations in Goa have been temporarily suspended due to customer complaints about poor after-sales service and delays in issuing registration certificates. The decline also follows a turbulent period for the company, which has faced controversy over the alleged suicide of a senior engineer.
Shares of Ola Electric came under pressure during the special Muhurat trading session on October 21 after reports surfaced that senior executives were named in the suicide case of 38-year-old engineer K. Aravind. In a 28-page note, Aravind accused his superiors of workplace harassment and withholding financial dues.
While Ola Electric has denied all allegations, the Karnataka High Court has directed the police to continue their investigation fairly without harassing the petitioners. The case is set for its next hearing on November 17.
