Chennai, Nov 17 (IANS) Security has been tightened across Coimbatore, with nearly 3,000 police personnel deployed ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit on November 19. The Prime Minister will inaugurate the South India Natural Farming Summit at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex, prompting extensive security checks and preparations by the city police.
The three-day summit, organised by multiple farmers’ associations in Tamil Nadu, aims to advance natural and organic farming practices. It is expected to draw thousands of participants, including progressive farmers, researchers, policymakers and agricultural experts. PM Modi is also scheduled to interact with 50 scientists specialising in natural and organic farming methods. The event will feature a large exhibition with 300 stalls showcasing sustainable agriculture products, innovations and new technologies.
According to officials, the Prime Minister will arrive at Coimbatore airport around 1.25 p.m. on Wednesday and will return to Delhi at approximately 3.25 p.m. after addressing the gathering and inaugurating the summit. In preparation, senior police officers have conducted thorough inspections of the venue, reviewing security layers, entry points and crowd control measures.
A multi-tier security arrangement has been established, involving intelligence teams, commandos, bomb detection squads and traffic management units. The city is expected to witness traffic diversions and increased surveillance to ensure a safe and smooth visit by the Prime Minister.
